The post
The College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to support the work of Dr Wenjie Ruan. The successful applicant will develop novel safety verification or testing algorithms to measure the robustness or safety of various deep learning models that are widely used in robotic/autonomous systems; implement the above algorithms as a toolbox, and further testing it on various learning- enabled autonomous robotic systems, especially on their perception tasks and decision-making process.
The starting salary will be from £27,511 to £34,804 on Grade E for Graduate Research Assistant, from £30,046 up to £34,804 at Postdoctoral Research Associate, and from £35,845 up to £46,718 at Postdoctoral Research Fellow, depending on qualifications and experience.
About you
The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.
For a Graduate Research Assistant applicants will be educated to first degree level or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study or equivalent experience and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes
For Postdoctoral Research Associate/Fellow applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or nearing completion) or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study. The successful applicant will be a nationally recognised authority in Computer Science or Robotics and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required.
