Salary plus Marie Curie allowances and funding for PhD
The College wishes to recruit an Early Stage Researcher to support the work of Jan Sieber on the ITN "Critical Transitions in Complex Systems". This Horizon 2020 Innovative Training Networks funded post is available immediately for 36 months. The successful applicant will work on the CRITIC research project "Delay effects in palaeoclimate time series".
The post will include:
Original research contributing to: modelling of delay effects in the palaeoclimate, analysis of dynamical systems with delay and time series generated by those, analysis and construction of early-warning signals;
Training & collaboration: research visits to collaborators at University College Cork (Ireland), University of Copenhagen (Denmark) and other partner institutions in the ITN, active participation in seminars, workshops, graduate courses and other activities provided by the University of Exeter and the ITN.
Applicants will possess an undergraduate degree (2:1 or above) or equivalent in relevant Mathematics or Physics and must be eligible to be appointed as an Early Stage Researcher in the UK under the Horizon 2020 Innovative Training Scheme. This is currently defined as;
Be in the first four years (full time equivalent) of their research careers starting at the date of obtaining a degree formally entitling them to embark on a doctorate in the UK or in the country where they obtained their degree.
Not have or be currently studying towards a PhD.
Have not resided or carried out their professional activities in the UK for more than twelve months in the three years immediately prior to their appointment (if successful in this application).
Under the rules of the scheme European and International applications are welcomed, subject to the UK Border Agency regulations on the Right to Work in the UK. All candidates will receive a salary plus living and mobility allowances. A family allowance may also be available, subject to eligibility of candidates.
Salary and allowances will be paid in sterling (the GBP value of salary plus allowances will vary over the period of employment according to the GBP:EUR exchange rate). At the exchange rate of GBP 0.72: EUR 1 (at date of advertising), salary plus allowances would be: GBP 19,632 (salary); GBP 3,549 (living allowance); GBP 5,648 (mobility allowance). (Salary and allowances are subject to employee's tax/NI/pension deductions as applicable).
The successful applicant will be enrolled on a PhD and will use the research undertaken as part of their studies.
