Summary of the role/position
The College wishes to recruit an Associate Research Fellow to support the work of Dr Lauren Brent. This National Institute on Aging (NIA) funded post is available from September 1, 2019 to July 31, 2021 and is based at University of Exeter, Streatham Campus. The successful applicant will contribute to a multi-institute project on the social modifiers of the pace of aging in a gregarious primate.
The post will include coordinating field-based research, generating data collected in the field, building a database to store behavioural and aging data, producing outputs that explore sociality across the lifespan, and the impact of social phenotypes on hallmarks of aging, which will include morphological and molecular aging markers. The successful applicant will be able to work in a multi-institute and inter-disciplinary team, present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically, and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will have experience working with non-laboratory based animals, be familiar with field-based research approaches, be able to manipulate large amounts of data, and will have some experience or willingness to learn social network analysis, and the use of multi-level models.
