This AHRC funded, part-time (0.75 fte) fixed-term post is available from 1^st September 2022 to 31^st August 2023 to participate in Professor Sally Faulkner’s project.

The post

The successful applicant will undertake research as appropriate to the field of study. The responsibilities may include all or some of the following:

• Conducting extensive oral history interviews in Portuguese and producing accurate transcripts of them in a timely manner
• Conducting and sharing history research on Portuguese cinema and film history, both online and in appropriate print press, TV and visual image archives in the UK, Portugal and elsewhere as required
• Working with the appropriate PI and CI in online and/or in person conference organising and the resulting dissemination of conference research
• Developing research objectives, projects and proposals
• Conducting collaborative research projects
• Extending, transforming and applying knowledge acquired from scholarship to research and appropriate external activities
• Writing or contributing to publications or disseminating research findings using media appropriate to the discipline
• Making presentations at conferences or exhibiting work in other appropriate events;
• Assessing, interpreting and evaluating outcomes of research
• Developing new concepts and ideas to extend intellectual understanding
• Resolving problems of meeting research objectives and deadlines
• Developing ideas for generating income and promoting research area
• Developing ideas for application of research outcomes
• Deciding on /following research programmes and methodologies, often in collaboration with colleagues and sometimes subject to the approval of the head of the research programme, and with relevant co-investigators, as appropriate, on fundamental issues

About you

The successful applicant will

Applicants will:

• possess a relevant PhD (Submitted PhD in a literary, cinema or Cultural Studies - related area of European Portuguese Studies) and sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies
• be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required
• be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events
