Summary of the role/position
The College of Humanities wishes to recruit a Lecturer in Classics and Ancient History (Education and Scholarship) to support the delivery of its Latin language and literature teaching, and to be part of a vibrant and friendly department.
The post will include the design, development and production of teaching and learning materials and the delivery of teaching in the area of Latin language and literature up to MA level. It is likely to include several of the following modules: Latin II; Greek and Roman Narrative; Tales of the Unexpected; Roman Myth; Ancient Texts and their Interpretation.
The successful applicant will possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist and core knowledge in the discipline, demonstrated by a PhD or equivalent in Classics or Ancient Literature, to teach and support learning in this academic area. They will use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students, including in an on-line environment. They will participate in departmental activities, for example contribute to student recruitment, or facilitate outreach work.
