The above full-time posts are available from 1st March 2017 to 28th February 2019 in the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, College of Social Sciences and International Studies (SSIS) at the University of Exeter.
The College wishes to recruit two Postdoctoral Research Fellows to participate in the Law and Learning in Shiite Islam (LAWALISI) ERC Advanced project, awarded to Professor Robert Gleave. Based in the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, the project team members will examine the development of Imami Shi'i legal thinking from the earliest times to the present day, placing them in the context of the wider development and elaboration of Islamic law. The two post holders will research in one of the research themes "Legal Theory/Legal Doctrine" or "Fatwas and Fiqh".
