The post
The College wishes to recruit either a Postdoctoral Research Associate or Fellow in Bionformatics to support the work of Professor Austin Smith. This Medical Research Council and European Research Council funded post is available immediately on a fixed term basis until 31st December 2024. The role holder will undertake a programme of computational and bioinformatics analyses to decipher the regulatory networks of pluripotency in human and other mammals.
The post will include developing and implementing algorithms, analysis methods and visualisation tools for dissecting and integrating ‘omics datasets.
About you
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or nearing completion for those applying at Associate level) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in bioinformatics or computational biology and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will have research expertise in high-throughput data analysis with competence in a UNIX/Linux environment and programming/scripting language. You will have experience in next generation sequence analysis, including single cell transcriptomics. You should have a general understanding of molecular cell biology and of next generation sequencing methodologies and be able to work in productive partnerships with experimental researchers. Specific knowledge of stem cell or developmental biology is not required, and training will be provided as needed.
