The post
The College wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of Prof. Stephen Hesselbo. This UKRI funded post is available immediately for 3 months full-time or up to 6 months part-time. The successful applicant will support research on the Early Jurassic Timescale and Earth System project (JET), specifically with regard to the newly cored Prees-2 borehole.
The post will include: Biostratigraphic assessment of drill core, working part of the time at the British Geological Survey Nottingham, including sampling for macrofossil fauna, conservation, taxonomic assessment and ammonite biozonation, integration with overall project goals.
About you
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or be nearing completion) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will be able to collect and identify Jurassic ammonite fossils and use these to construct a detailed biostratigraphical and chronostratigraphical zonation.
